Description
Jersey Boys is a jukebox musical with music by Bob Gaudio, lyrics by Bob Crewe, and book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice. It dramatizes the formation, success and eventual break-up of the 1960s rock ‘n roll group, The Four Seasons. The musical opened on Broadway in 2005, and has since had a North American National Tour. Jersey Boys won four 2006 Tony Awards including Best Musical, and the 2009 Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical.
Mvt. 1: “Part 1” From the popular Broadway musical showcasing the 1960s pop hits of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, here is an energetic and dynamic opener based on “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” and “Big Girls Don’t Cry.”
Mvt. 2: “Part 2” Written with plenty of variety in scoring and dynamics plus a short percussion break, this entertaining production number is based on the 1960s hits by the Four Seasons “December 1963 (Oh, What a Night)” and “Walk Like a Man.”
Mvt. 3: “Part 3” Features a lush treatment of Frankie Valli’s hit ballad “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You.”It opens with a solo or soli for horns followed by a creative mix of modulations and dramatic effects. The ending builds nicely to a climax with a recap of “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and a powerful finish.
