Description
Out to Sea embodies the robust soundtrack like scoring of Miklós Rózsa. The opening fanfare produces a powerhouse introduction featuring the brass and battery, who then turn the reigns over to the softer sounds of the front ensemble and woodwinds. The calm only lasts a short time before the tension again builds, giving an equally strong end to the first movement, clearing the air for another gentle flourish of woodwinds which leads into a flute solo. Very much like the sea, the musical lines rise and fall, giving a layering effect throughout all three movements. The last production brings back the suspense and builds to a restatement of the opening fanfare, giving the audience a strong voluminous and exciting finale!
